The release of a draft budget in Morocco this year has been a long overdue process. The basics were slated to be made public in June 2013 but the crisis that has affected the governing coalition, pitting the nationalist and monarchy Istiqlal party to Prime Minister Benkirane led to a freeze period during which the budgeting process struggled to come out of the finance ministry’s offices.
