The cement sector in Morocco is largely owned and controlled by European companies. The three firms active in that space are Lafarge, a subsidiary of the French giant bearing the same, Holcim, owned by the Swiss Holcim, and Ciments du Maroc, a subsidiary of Italian firm Italcementi. These companies may be competing against each others, but they seem to have pre-determined market territories within Morocco, making future merger and acquisition deals interesting to watch. With their involvement, the cement sector in Morocco has seen intense investments in the past decade, in an effort to accompany the country’s ambitious infrastructure and construction sectors.
